Early and Historic Cameras are not always very Old

Early camera are usually seen as having been produced in the middle of the 19th century and this covers Daguerreotype cameras and wet plate cameras. However, historic cameras also involve early digital cameras, or at least should do, in my opinion.

I have added a Fotoman camera by Logitech to my collection. It is just about the first genuine digital camera for consumer use and at the time it cost just short of $1,000 and this was over 20 years ago. Fortunately it was a lot cheaper now !

Some collectors shun digital cameras completely but I see them as an integral part of the development of photography even if they are now totally obsolete and far less likely to be used than a 35mm or 120 camera. Having said that, I have a very clear preference for the earliest possible cameras and am looking to add to my collection of early cameras including sliding box and wet plate cameras.
